Country: South Africa
Style: Mild Ale
Rating: 3/ 5
The first time I tried the Light, I was bitterly disappointed. It was insipid and I had very little to say about it that was good. But, it was also my own fault. I tried this mild ale, at 3.7% in the middle of an evening of many, many beers. Rookie mistake.
The second time I tried the Light, I enjoyed it. The Light is actually a very refreshing, with some fruity notes. It has some crispness to it, which is great for a mild ale. It is touted as “light enough for the longest braai” and I reckon that summarises it perfectly. It’s light enough that you could drink 12 and not feel it.
My biggest kudo, however, goes to the label design. Both the Light and the Copper Ale have spectacular artwork.
