Silverback by Darling

Name: Silverback
Brewery: Darling Brew
Country: South Africa
Style: Witbier
Rating: 4/ 5

This is actually a Witbier, which is a wheat beer in the same family as a Hefeweiss. Normally, witbiers are pale and cloudy because of all the wheat (and sometimes oats) but this one is jet black.

Inspired by the cunning honey badger, this is a surprising and most delicious Wit.

The Silverback is my favourite of the Darling range (alongside the Black Mist), it has real kick. It’s bitter, it’s smooth, it’s unfiltered and the head is creamy. I’m not a huge Witbier or Weiss fan, but I’m much more open to them when they’re dark and lingering like this one. Try it, it’s really great.
